Being a bit of anut about the written word, I buy many books. I began by buying paper-back books, but soon made up my mind to begin building my library of books; I recommend this to you all. I then switched to hard cover. I joined twobook clubs by mail, found this was not a money-saving effort after three years, and searched for bargains. In the U.S., we have weekly events everywhere: the yard(or garage) sales, where individuals sell their personal items they no longer need or want. I found great books, but not many hard covers.
Here in many U.S., there isSams Clubs, a huge discount location. Most all my new editions are purchased there. For a book that lists for$26.95(US dollars), I can buy for$15.28. If I am looking for a book that has been in publication for a few years, I go toHalf-Price Books. Great bargains at this site, and Ive not found any that werent in very good condition. I recently purchased two of James Herriots books for less than$10.00 that were in perfect condition! If you have aHalf-Price Books near you, check them out. They have great variety and LOTS of books!
Another bargain spot isTarget Stores. Every so often they will have shelves of fairly recent books on sale for$5.00!
If you have anyThrift stores, dont forget to look at these spots, also. I havent had much luck there recently, tho; think everyone is selling their books toHalf-Price!
Let me add one more bit of advice: dont EVER dog-ear the pages of your great books.take good care of them and you will be building your own fine library! And READ every chance you can!
