I Like Bargains!

Being a bit of a’nut’ about the written word, I buy many books. I began by buying paper-back books, but soon made up my mind to begin building my library of books; I recommend this to you all. I then switched to hard cover. I joined two’book clubs’ by mail, found this was not a money-saving effort after three years, and searched for bargains. In the U.S., we have weekly events everywhere: the yard(or garage) sales, where individuals sell their personal items they no longer need or want. I found great books, but not many hard covers.

Here in many U.S., there is’Sam’s Clubs’, a huge discount location. Most all my new editions are purchased there. For a book that lists for$26.95(US dollars), I can buy for$15.28. If I am looking for a book that has been in publication for a few years, I go to’Half-Price Books’. Great bargains at this site, and I’ve not found any that weren’t in very good condition. I recently purchased two of James Herriot’s books for less than$10.00 that were in perfect condition! If you have a’Half-Price Books’ near you, check them out. They have great variety and LOTS of books!

Another bargain spot is’Target Stores’. Every so often they will have shelves of fairly recent books on sale for$5.00!

If you have any’Thrift’ stores, don’t forget to look at these spots, also. I haven’t had much luck there recently, ’tho; think everyone is selling their books to’Half-Price’!

Let me add one more bit of advice: don’t EVER dog-ear the pages of your great books.take good care of them and you will be building your own fine library! And READ every chance you can!
