Here is my choice of top 5 serials on Indian television last year(2002). But before I do that I would like to say that the family dramas are being overdone on all the channels and the saas-bahu , ideal joint pariwars, ideal sati -savitri , pativrata bahus , etc. is getting really irritating now. Somebody pppplease tell them to stop (specially Ekta Kapoor). I am proud of our culture and values but must we show these unreal families and situations throughout the day? Anyway coming to my choice of top 5 (not in any particular order) are:
Kismey Kitna Hai Dum - A nice fun show that can be watched with the whole family.
Kittie Party - An entertaining serial on Zee TV with many characters and storylines. Thank god for some change. Check this out. You will get hooked.
Sa Re Ga Ma Pa - One of the longest running programs on Zee this talent show will always be refreshing. Shaan does a great anchoring job.
KKusum - A good family drama with the central character being assertive and independent minded, ( not the typical jewellery loaded bahu of some other serials who do nothing constructive)
Kaahin Kissi Roz - I like the twists and turns in this social thriller. And I love Sudha Chandran’s sarees, jewellery and Bindis. She really carries all that off so well.
