Delightful waterfall at Vihigaon, Kasara

I chanced upon this location once while Googling for trekking spots in and around Mumbai. I gathered some information about this place on the net. The most difficult part about this trek is the travelling.

You’ll have to catch an early local to Kasara. It takes about 2 hours to reach Kasara from thane. From kasara, you get taxis taking passengers to Nashik, but you have to take a taxi only till Jawhar Phata which is close to the beginning of the Kasara ghat.

From Jawhar Phata, there’s road that cuts from the highway and goes towards Igatpuri, you have to walk for approximately 3-4 kms till you reach the government quarters. Here you have to take another detour and a ’kaccha’ rasta takes you to the waterfall, there a few local kids around who will guide you to the falls on the promise of a few bucks.

I have been to this place twice in 2 years and have loved it to the core. You won’t find a lot of people here, and thanks to that this place is quite clean. The waterfall is around 120 ft in height and can be seen in the movie Ashoka starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor.

You wont get any food or water here, so you’ll have to carry those yourself. The entire trip can be planned as a one day trip and maximum expenditure around 300 rupees.

So, if you are an avid trekker and love exploring the nature’s beauty, you must visit this place.!
