Free is good

There are literally hundreds of free e-mail services available. Actually the only ones I have ever known not to be free are the ones from a paid ISP. They just come as part of your account.

I have so many e-mail addresses that I have forgotten where they are. The word free just seems to grab my attention. To pick just 5 is hard but I will try.

Incredimail is my most recent one and the one that I use on a daily basis. There is a download involved to get it on your machine but it is a quick download. It has all the same features as Outlook and looks very similar except you have tons of different stationery to use, animations, sounds and mail notifiers. There is a daily gallery where you can add something new each day if you want to. Using the free program you will have advertising at the top and a link to the mail program in each e-mail you send. It really doesn’t interfere with anything. They do have a premium program that you can buy which offers extra’s and after using the free part for some time I did purchase the additional features and really love it.

Outlook is where I have gotten my mail for many a year and I think most everyone knows the features of this program. You do have to be careful not to open attachments as it is famous for spreading viruses but I do not open attachments anymore from people I don’t know. Even if I do know them I will scan first before opening as they may have a virus and not know it. It does come with some stationery and there is more that you can download and other sites where you can get more that can be added if you have win zip to use.

I have 3 Hotmail accounts and this is where I get mostly what some would call junk mail but it is things that I am interested in. The only time I use it for personal mail is if I do not want to give out my primary e-mail address. You do have to check it often because if you get a lot of mail and forget to check they will delete some if you go over the space they have allowed you. Now and then the site is down and you can’t get in but for free it works fairly well.

I use MSN chat and the two are connected and it will show that you have new e-mail when you are chatting and you can go right to it without logging in as you are already logged into the chat.

Yahoo is another mail service that I use and have several accounts with. The only thing I don’t like about it is if some one sends you a picture attachment for example it does not show in the body of the letter and you have to download the picture to your hard drive to view it. Other than that I have no problems with it.

Another free e-mail I use is yo-yo mail. Here you can also make a few cents now and then reading e-mails from advertisers. It doesn’t add up real quick but it is a little extra bonus.

That is my 5 top picks and ones that I have the least amount of problems with. I also use night mail, bolt mail, excite and net address.
