Love is soft, love is sweet, love is hot, love is cold. I am sure anyone who has loved someone, will agree with me.
Above all the natures of love, Love is beautiful. This beauty of love has been beautifully expressed in the songs made in our bollywood movies. Nearly every movie has a romantic number. Thanks to the music directors, we have heard a lot of great romantic numbers in more than 50 years of Indian cinema.
Everyone has his favourites and he can very easily imagine that these songs are made for him. I still remember, when I watched Chalte Chalte with myto be, we enjoyed every song and shared the feeling that it was made for us.
So here is the set of five which I think has been made for me and I should sing them for my beloved:
Romance begins here
1. Main Koi Aisa Geet Gaun
Movie - Yes Boss
Music - Jatin-Lalit
My favourite. This song defines the beauty of love. The song describes the willingness of a lover to do anything for his beloved. Being a man(as this is a male song), I have myself faced this kind of situation a number of times. Situations which require you to do anything to make your love happy. Nicely carved music, soft vocals by Abhijeet make this song a worth singing song.
Agar kaho to main sunaaun
Tumhein haseen kahaniyaan
Sunogi kya meri zubaani
Tum ek pari ki daastaan
The cute side of love.
2. Tere Liye saari Umar Jaagun
Movie - Yaad Rakhegi Duniya
Music - Anand-Milind
One of the most beautiful song Amit Kumar has ever sung. Those of you who have watched this movie, might agree with my choice. The movie was about two patients who were going to die soon and this song was picturized at the perfect situation. In this song, the lover is saying that he can keep himself awake whole life for his beloved and prays that the god transfers his remaining life to his beloved. The song can literally bring tears in your eyes if you are in true love.
Tere liye saari umar jaagun
Main to yahi rab se dua maangun
Naam tere likh doon meri baaqi zindagi
Naina O meri Naina
Soulful indeed.
3. Chalte Chalte
Movie - Chalte Chalte
Music - Jatin-Lalit
Do not confuse the movie with the old one. This song is the title track of the movie
featuring Shahruk Khan and Rani Mukherjee. Now the very first thing which I would like to write is that, this is not a song to be sung when you are together. This is the song for fights, disputes and those kind of stuffs which make you sad. Sing this song for her and I am sure she will have tears in her eyes. With these kind of lyrics, I am sure, the love will find its reprise:
Pyar humko bhi hai
Pyar tumko bhi hai
Phir ye kya silsilay ho gaye
Bewafa hum nahin Bewafa tum nahin
To kyun itne gile ho gaye
4.Tumse Milkar
Movie - Parinda
Music - Rahul Dev Burman
Now let me clear something. Some of you, who always read my reviews, will shout on me saying you include this number in every one of your review be it the best duets or inspired songs. This is because, even after knowing the fact that this is a direct lift from an english number, I cannot stop loving the melody in this song. And yes, you play this song and romance is in the air. It is not the words, but the overall composition which is romantic and thus I believe that every singer must have sung this song for his or her beloved. Didnt you?
The lyrics say:
Tumse milke aisa laga tumse milke
Armaan hue poore dil ke
Ae meri jaane wafa
Teri meri meri teri ek jaan hai
Saath tere rahenge sada, tumse na honge juda.
5. Aise To Na Dekho
Movie - Teen Devian
Music - Sachin Dev Burman
One of the finest songs of Rafi sahab, this song has all the ingredients to make it a must sing song for my beloved. The soulful singing by Rafi sahab which he was greatest at, the soft melodious music score by S.D. da and the powerful lyrics by Majrooh Sultanpuri make this song a gem. The lyrics goes as *Do not look at me in the manner I may loose my control. *. It is always difficult to translate the great works of one language into other and thus I am writing the lyrics of this song here:
Aise to na dekho, ke humko nasha ho jaaye
Khoobsurat si koi humse khata ho jaaye
So that was my list. I believe the songs which you sing for your beloved need not be soft and highly romantic. Sometimes she enjoys some fast numbers much more than the slower ones. So you should always keep all kinds of numbers in your box, so that you do not run short of them and in turn miss out to make her happy by your singing.
Now I would like to put up a very simple, might be a personal question:
Have you ever been in love?(Optional)
Which song would you love hearing from your lovers mouth?
