Well I have been fortunate or lets say unfortunate enough to have watched some of the worst movies... Blame it on my enthusiasm for movies... and sometimes though the review on the newspaper was good... the movies were a disaster according to me... I guess opinion differs when it comes to personal choice....
My personal 5 lowest rated movies for 2000 and one in 1999 are :
1. Austin Powers - The spy who shagged me - June 1999
Well The first scene of the movie with the hero, Mike Myers running about naked was funny but after 5 minutes into the movie, the film started giving me a headache... well I am all in for humour but such sick script and the male member being the main theme of the movie .... along with some garish costumes and crass humor ...was too much for me ... the film absolutely has no story and script or a comedy flow... Please avoid this movie if you are planning to watch it....
2. Romeo Must Die - March 2000
I went for the movie as I also like martial arts movie and Jet Li was a big reason for me to watch the movie. I was not disappointed with the fight sequences but the story left me with a feeling of deja vu of watching a hindi movie ... mafia fights... boy loves girl.. like romeo loves Juliet and then boy avenges death of his brother ... and at the end father of the gal who is also a don... gives his daughter’s hand to the boy who is the son of a rival don... if you like action you can afford to watch it.. I guess Hollywood has become sucker for bollywood endings where the enemies become friends and specifically the good or the villain or in some cases like (The mask of Zorro ) the alternate Hero brings two lovers together by placing the girls hand on top of the boys and the movie ends.... whatever happened to the beautiful endings like in Phenomenon, Stepmom, Dead Man Walking , etc...
3. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon - December 2000
Well I have already written a review on this and I have found that this movie was a big hit in America... so again this choice is personal... it could have been better.... very good effects but thats all there was to the movie.. special effects... Story was good but had no logical flow... anyway I recommend you watch it.. this movie is something which you have to decide whether you like it or not... :):)
4. Dude where’s my car - December 2000
This is a repeat of the Austin Powers type of movie.. with some crassy humor and a messed up script... A dumb movie if I might say so... Avoid it at all costs... YEESHH how could someone make such a dumb movie ? But after Austin Powers , I believe that its possible...
5. Me Myself and Irene - June 2000
Ok I like Jim Carey and his Antics... I have watched Ace Ventura, Liar Liar, Etc and well by the time this movie came I was prepared for some entertainment but I was grossly disappointed... Firstly , Jim as usual was his crazy self.. he reminds me of Kishore Kumar of Indian cinema... with so many facial expressions and crazy antics... Jim was excellent in his acting and comedy but the whole plot of the movie was kind of wooly and vague... I mean again it was like watching a B-grade Hindi Movie. No script .. no story .... all characters except for Jim Carey are just running about ....
Anyway thats it from my point of view !!!
