I am not an e-comm person. I prefer going out to retail stores, checking out electronics, reviewing them extensively and then eventually buying them at the grey markets with dirt cheap prices.
However, off late with so many people buying online, including my dad and wife, I had been temped to try buying stuff online. While my dad and wife had decent experiences and some bad, I somehow trusted Flipkart for its service. A lot of people swear by its prompt delivery! However, I wonder why on mouthshut, it has below average ratings. Guess only those people write reviews who never liked their service! But then, I am different.
My first order with Flipkart was a book on perfection - dont remember the name, but it was promptly delivered on time. A few months later I wanted to buy a Tablet. Having reviewed so many tabs and found my choice, I could have decided to buy from a local retailer. But then I thought of two things:
The retailer too would not have a demo available. So buying online would be the same.
Retailers often dont have time to sit down and tell you which tab is better. I preferred reading the reviews on flipkart. Retailers had earlier tried to dupe me by saying a particular laptop wasn’t good. But the fact was that he was not making much money on that sale since the demand for that laptop had risen. So, when it came to the trust factor, I was more or less on similar pedestal.
I checked out snapdeal / naaptol / homeshop18 / tradus and n no. of sites. But I for once knew that out of all these companies I would trust flipkart for its service and promptness. So, if anything would happen with my purchase, I would need better customer service. So, without thinking twice, instead of saving that extra Rs. 500/-, I preferred buying from flipkart just because I would trust them more if I had an issue later.
Anyways, I did not have any issues with the tab later but it was perhpas, the satisfaction which was more important. Finally, I am glad I have started to buy online, made my life simpler and flipkart will remain my first choice to buy. However, if they had to improve on some aspects it would be:
more competitive, it would bring in wonders!
A better search experience.
On the whole, I love their products range (though they often miss on some brands), their pricing is fine, tracking system of shipment is excellent, keeps you updated every single movement of your shipment, never had trouble buying with them. All of it, such an ease!!!
