I have been buying from Flipkart for the past 2 years plus... mostly books and CDs. The boring part: I order, they commit delivery in 2, 4, 10 days whatever, and the items promptly arrive just about the time mentioned, no hassles at all... Their own courier service is one of the most courteous and prompt services I have come across in India.
The Smart part:
My wife used my account to place an order, but for some reason the payment gateway failed. So she discussed that with the customer service and they helped out and the order got through.
I was not aware as this happened, and going back to the site about an hour later, placed the same exact order. Much later (4 hours or so...) I realized the mistake and tried to cancel it on the site - it gave me an error message, asking me to contact the customer service.
This is where things start getting interesting: When I talked to Sumit (the CSRep), he said that the system is smart enough to identify the duplicate orders, and automatically locks the second order, and waits for the Flipkart personnel to contact the customer and get a re-confirmation...
Another customer-friendly innovation from Flipkart...
