Since I moved from New York, I have looked for the perfect sports bar/restaurant, which has excellent food and a laid back atmosphere. The Ale House located near Colonial Blvd.and Metro Pkwy., is the spot to have a cold beverage or to have a meal. For the beer afficionado, there are many on tap offerings. For example, a half/half can be ordered (either Guiness Stout / as Bass ale or Guiness Stout/ Harp Lager), as well as other microbrew. Do not expect to find Norm from Cheers sitting at the bar, This establishment is for the an outgoing crowd. There are several pool tables and video games at the ale house, so there is plenty to do. There are televisions all over the place, showing different sporting events around the country. Furthermore, the food is outstanding, having an excellent menu to satisfy the most pickiest of patrons. Their menu even has seafood offerings as well as traditional bar staples such as Buffalo Wings. Families can actually have an excellent meal within a reasonable price range. I would advise that during the normal dinner hour be prepared for a slight wait for service, but the wait will be worth it. There is always plenty of parking and the staff is always friendly. I highly recommend the Ale House as a place to frequent when friends are in town or go when someone does not feel like cooking.
