Better cousin of US Pizza ;)

Last Sunday post our light breakfast of “ukdiche modak” on occasion of Ganeshotsav, we headed to this new Italian outlet which was aggressively advertising its lunch buffet for sometime. What I was curious about was, their catchy tag line “Slice pizza khaya kya

Which means a single slice of a large 18 inch pizza (9 inch slice) that is served hot within 5 minutes. It gives you the option to choose and pay for a single slice as compared to a whole round pizza.Besides Slice Pizza as its flagship product; Food Factory also serves Imported Italian Pastas, Salads, Snacks, Desserts and a variety of hot and cold beverages within the price range of Rs. 19 - Rs. 79. They serve veg, non-veg and Jain food but Ahmadabad outlet is purely vegetarian. They have outlets in all major metros or will becoming soon.

It’s a chill place to catch up with your friends on a lazy afternoon. The decor of the place is very young, painted in different shades of green, which is very refreshing. They had kept a huge basket of fresh & colorful, fruits and vegetables, next to Salad station.

At first thought, this restaurant format looks like competing with “US Pizza”, serving you Soup, international salads, pizza/pastas, garlic bread and ice-cream in its lunch buffet which is there from 11 to 4, but it has more to offer then the former. They have an open kitchen concept and we were sitting just next to it, so the aroma of fresh baked pizza and garlic breads was muaahhhh! We ordered both pasta and pizza express buffet; they offer variety of pizzas and pastas to gorge on which were really very delicious. Probably they should do away with “slice pizza” concept in buffet express as in process of trying out different variety of large portions (9 inch pizza slice) one ends up leaving a lot on plate.

In total the food was yummy n delectable, which was served hot and portion size more then one can ask for(9 inch pizza slice!!!). They could definitely improve on the salad spread which they claim as offering international taste(even they had national flags against each salad counter). Reservations are not necessary here, but they have to improve on their man management Rajeev_Vermacially during peak hours. Its a value for money restaurant.

Low brow points:

  • Heavy rush, inefficient functioning of AC, so we were sweating…too small place to manage such huge Sunday lunch traffic

  • Staff was cordial but overburdened, so didn’t explained what all variety was in offer

  • Garlic bread was charged separately, which was not told to us earlier(I loved the soft and flavored garlic breads)

Though my first visit to this place was not up to the mark but it promises to offer more. So I would revisit the place, but on weekdays to try out their different Italian cafe food n beverages at leisure.
