Ford Ecosport is now enjoying a great hype and the car is in demand after the June end launch in India. It looks great and feature like voice sync and key less entries at the top end models are very attractive. However, it has an acute space crunch. Not even three slim people can be fitted/accommodated comfortably at the back seat.
Almost all the hatchback cars, sedans, SUVs, available in the Indian market, are having more space than Ecosport and surprisingly it is termed as SUV. Ecosport Titanium only have the features and 16 inch alloy wheels(lower model is having 15 inches wheels).
The on road price is crossing 10 lakhs (Diesel Titanium ) and in my opinion this is overpriced considering it’s size, volume, SUV suspension capability. Most alarming part is - currently it is having around 7-8 months of waiting period. Dealers do not even bother to reply, in case you show interest about this car. Ford is also not in the mode of reply as the production of this car is very less.
The waiting period and the demand is created partially due to the fact that production is very limited for this car and they are failing to meet commitments. Ford has also proactively called back the diesel models couple of months back to fix a small issue..
Over all - This may be termed as the good looking smallest SUV in India even smaller than most of the hatch back and sedan cars in India. Feed back from owners regarding mileage is on an average 13.5Km/litre (Diesel version) with AC, doesnt look great.
Now the question is - will the hype created for this car after the deferred launch remain the same in the next couple of months?
