I have been a user of Ford Endeavour 2016 for almost one year. Ford Endeavour is one of premium SUVs during ancient periods in India. The endeavour which launched on 2003 achieved great sales in the market. It was the best seller until Toyota launches Fortuner on 2009. Presently, in this segment great competition is held mainly between these two cars. Ford has arrived by performing new generation Endeavour to catch up the market while the Toyota also does the same in Fortuner. Although Fortuner is a best seller, people have an opinion that Endeavour is the best. Let’s see, is there any fact in it by test driving. Design The old Endeavour was in a box shape but the new one has gotten some curve designs. Old design has almost changed and now it looks really pretty. The expression of SUV is expressed better than Fortuner. Bigger chrome grills, high bonnet and 18-inch wheels give Endeavour a good road presence. The Stepney wheel which was attached on Dickey door has changed and affixed under the car. The body is very powerful. The big sound while closing the doors shows the power of the car. The car is produced in a way of excellent off-roading and to carry heavy loads. Fortuner is also this like. Endeavour has more length, width and wheelbase than Toyota Fortuner. The wheelbase of Endeavour is 2, 850 which has a length of 4.9 meters. And the ground clearance is 225 mm. Endeavour is capable enough to drive through deep water rather than its competitors. Endeavour goes through water having deep up to 800 mm without any difficulties.
Interior is extremely luxurious. Dashboard mixed with beige and grey colour, upholstery made with top quality leather, simple centre console and top quality switches. All these give the premium feel for interior too. The quality of the interior is a step ahead than Fortuner. Steering wheel which can be adjusted the tilt has total 22 buttons. Phone, audio, multi-information display and Cruz control can be controlled by using buttons on steering wheels. The stacks of lights and wiper are not given by violating sides as in the old model. The control of lights is given in right side and control of wiper is given in left side. Driver seat can be adjusted in 8 modes by operating buttons. Panoramic sunroof, parking sensor on the front side, semi auto parallel park assist, zone control climate AC are the extra features that Endeavour has but not in other vehicles in this segment. 10 speaker infotainment system having Apple car play and android auto is excellent rather than Fortuner’s six speaker system. Options for adjusting the height of steering wheel, engine start-stop button and navigation system are the extra features that Fortuner has while comparing to Endeavour. The Dickeys of both the SUVs can be opened by pressing the button on key fob. Interior is in a way of seating 7 persons in three rows. The car having more space in the front row is Endeavour. In the second row, there has given enough leg room even though it is not good as Fortuner’s. But SUVs of Ford can hold up thighs very well. It is somewhat difficult for entering to the third row. For entering to the third-row seat can be completely folded in Fortuner but in the case of Endeavour, it is possible to fold only the backrest of the seat.
