Sometimes Used Is Better

A couple of years ago after my son had totaled out his car we were on the look out for a good used car.

We traveled to Colorado Springs to a larger used car dealer. One of the first cars I looked at was the Ford Escort.

It was a 1994 Ford Escort GT, the sport version a the Escort line. To look at it was very pretty, sky blue, a spoiler on the trunk. I had to test drive this one.

The interior was a nice pale blue with dark leather dash board. Who ever had owned this car before had taken very good care it it.

The car came with a manual five speed transmission and the pick up and go was wonderful.

When looking at a used car you always want to check the engine for oil leeks, the glove box for any sign of work that was done to the car, if there is nothing there make sure that you ask your salesmen about any repairs.

This car had a very low milage shown on the odometer, I liked the way it handled, had a very nice sound system in it, no noticeable signs of oil leeks, this was the car for me.

We haggled down the price by several hundred dollars, in the end we paid $5, 000.00 for this car.

Looking back this was one of the best cars that I had ever owned. I got about 28 miles to the gallon in the city and around 35 miles to the gallon on the open road.

This is a compact car and very small. It had two bucket seats in the front and a very small back seat that would only hold two adults. I didn’t need a large car at this time for I only had one child at home.

I loved this car and was very sad to see it go. Another S.U.V. backed up over the top of my little car and my insurance company totaled it out.

I have yet to replace my car, mostly because I haven’t found a car that held up to the quality of my Escort.
