Budget constraints aside, we Indians love our sedans, especially the efficient, affordable and the compact ones. And that’s one of the key reasons why Ford has burnt the midnight oil and developed its first-ever compact-sedan, the Figo Aspire that’s launched today at a starting price of Rs 4.9 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Ford has left no stone unturned in the development of its compact-sedan, making sure it ticks all the right boxes. The Figo Aspire comes with three engine options to choose from: a 1.2L, 4cyl, 1196cc petrol motor with 87bhp, 112Nm and 5-speed manual gearbox; a 1.5L, 4cyl, 1498cc turbo-diesel that’s good for 99bhp and 215Nm, teamed with a 5-speed manual ’box; and a 112bhp, 136Nm, 1.5L, 4cyl, 1499cc petrol, with all that power sent to the front wheels via a dual-clutch 6-speeder only – a segment-first.

In another segment first, Ford will be offering driver and front passenger airbags as standard across variants, and if you wish to shell out more money for the top-end variants, you’ll get side and curtain airbags to provide better safety for passengers seated at the rear too. That’s a total of 6 airbags. Plus, there’s ABS and EBD for added safety and another segment first, the ‘MyKey’ – a key fob that lets you set speed limit, control volume for audio and reminds you if you’ve forgotten to belt up.
At 359 litres, the Aspire doesn’t have the biggest boot, but real estate has been spent well inside the passenger cabin with sufficient legroom for its passengers in both the rows. In terms of features, the Figo Aspire come loaded with climate control, an improved version of its SYNC infotainment system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity to name a few.

With the correct dimensions, specifics and features of sub-four meter sedan, it seems Ford has got things right as far as the product is concerned. What about the prices you ask? Ford has competitively priced the Figo Aspire with the base Ambient petrol starting at Rs 4.9 lakh, while the Ambient diesel retails at Rs 5.9 lakh. The only petrol automatic variant, Titanium is priced at Rs 7.80 lakh. Prices ex-showroom, Delhi.
