While I was contemplating to purchase a Sedan with
affordable price and mileage, I came across
an article in Auto Bild of December issue, wherein
they had compared with two new diesel sedan i.e Dezire and
New Ikon TDCI and they had clearly voted for Ikon TDCI
At the sma time there was a TV prgramme of NDTV Car and bike
where the same two cars were compared and Ikon was found
to be slightly better accept for the Indian sentiments towards
Maruthi Suzuki.
After reading lot of reviews on the net, I purchased
Ikon TDCI in first week of Jan 2009.SDecond day I went for a
long drive to Vellore golden temple, a memorable experience
with this josh machine to drive on tha t beautiful highway
to a beautiful temple.It was a memorable journey with spiritual
and adventorous driving.I could touch 120 easily and I did not try
for higher sppeds.Most surprising was the mileage.I could
calculate around 22-24 Kmpl during that journey of 300 Km
up and down.Believe me it is true.In the city I am able to get
arouond 16 Kmpl.Is it not a good performance for those who are weary
of consumption pattern.
My experience with this car has splendid.I am fully
satisfied with this performance till date.Some people say
Fords maintenance is little higher.Before purchase I made it
a point to clarify and they claimed that the things have been
changed with the new plant in chennai.Secondly others say it is
old model and may be stopped.This Ikon TDCI is a new version
with Fiesta engine, Ford should not stop this version which
can give them good product to beat Dzire.Any way it is worth
