Ive just bought the ford ikon 1.3NXT. If any genuine, interested person is thinking about buying it, think no further, GO AHEAD!!!!!!!!!
Its totally amazing for its capacity and size, and the way it propels itself when accelerated is awesome. Its like a mini-josh machine, i.e a slightly tamed version of its elder beast, the 1.6NXT
Ive clearly listed out its pros and cons for your information.
First and foremost, kindly note that Im not reviewing the Flair version. Ive no clue about that vehicle. Though people at ford have mentioned in their brochures that it is similar to the 1.3NXT, it has one major difference. The engine in the flair, though its of the same capacity, is not the same as that of the 1.3NXT. The 1.3NXT has an imported engine like any other Ikon, but the flair has an engine made by Hindustan Motors, makers of the ambassador. The only advantage is that the engine is more fule efficient. But I feel that the car loses its premium feel. This review may be useful if this car is still available in the Finesse form and the 1.3Clxi NXT variant, or for used car buyers.
Pros:
1.Amazing suspension, can soak up any kind of rough texture or pot hole.
2.Superb linear handling, goes exactly in the direction where you command.
3.Good pickup. Though the technical specifications reveal that the car has only 70Bhp power, compared to the esteems 85bhp, the torque curves peak value(for a lay man, that spells a-c-c-e-l-e-r-a-t-i-o-n) is available at very low rpms, so its quicker inspite of its low power. Good enough for city driving, cant say excellent pickup when compared to 1.6NXT.
4.Rear seat. I dont have to say a thing. Just get yourself seated in the rear seat of any Ikon, and youll love the rest of the happy and comfortable story/journey.
5.Efficiency:Good, but totally depends on how much your right foot feeds on the pedal. If you give a pedal to metal treatment, Itll move for 8-9Kms to alitre. Else, with descent driving, will definitely give you 12-13kms to a litre.
cons
1.High speed turning: very unstable at high speed turning. I had a bad experience. This is due to the bad body design. Negligible if youre a city-dweller and hardly travel at three digit speeds(over 120kmph).
2.Very high rear!!!!Woah! I almost banged the bonnet of a sports car when I was reversing cos I couldnt even see it! But youll get used to it by practise.
