Ok so if you haven’t you seen this classic film where have you been?
Ok for those of you who’ve been living in a bomb shelter for the last 20 years I’ll explain the basic story.
Forrest Gump is basically about a guy called...wait for it... Forrest Gump. Forrest is not very intelligent (probably slightly mentally retarded although this is not actually discussed) but has a heart of gold.
Forrest has to wear leg braces in his childhood and is severely bullied and his only friend is the girl who befriends him on his first day of school, Jenny who he would do anything for.
As he grows up he and Jenny drift apart and the movie follows the story of his life and his search for his one true love Jenny as told by himself to several different people while waiting for a bus.
The story is at times sad and extremely touching (such as when he is running from the bullies) and at other times it is highly amusing and mixes the two extremely well meaning that you can’t help but love Forrest. The comedy value lifts the darker, more serious parts of the movie and make it almost compulsive viewing.
the plot is highly competant with several unexpected shifts in events and emotions which really force you to watch it right through to the end (even though I cry every time I watch it!) the fact that its not a predictable movie is one of the things I love best about it.
The acting is outstanding from all the characters involved especially Tom Hanks who plays the lead but also Jenny and other fun characters such as Bubba.
In my most humble of opinions this is about as close to a perfect movie as can humanly be expected. Everyone should watch this film at least once if not 4 or 5 times, a real must see movie.
