I would like to share what I experienced around couple of months back at Fortis Hospital (sector 62 Noida).

I was at Fortis(Noida) for my son’s cardiac surgery, I was told that the entire package which will include surgery, 10 days of pre/post surgery stay and consumables are going to cost 130000/- . As they said I paid the entire package amount before the surgery.
My son didn’t recovered so fast so he was there for 20-22 days. As the package included just 10 days of stay, on the 15th day I was told that I have an outstanding of around 10000/-, the very next day they told me that the outstanding is more than a lakh rupees. When I asked for an explanation for this sudden jump in the amount there was no one to answer or explain it. This keeps happening for next few days, by that time I was so frustrated that I denied to make any further payments till they provide me with the detailed breakup of all the consultancy charges, bed, medicines, tests, consumables, food etc. After escalating the matter to the highest level and threatening to move to consumer court/press I was finally provided with detailed breakup. After going through the details and cross-checking it with records I realized that they were overcharging me by around 25000/- , lot of expensive tests which never happened was also included in the bill, there were lot of consumables which were never used……
Don’t over trust your hospital, keep your eyes and ears open….ask for a complete and detailed breakups and go to Fortis only when you don’t find a better hospital.
