The Fountainhead, bestselling novel in 1943 written by Ayn, she is known for her acute writing on the concept of individualism. The novel revolves around the individual Howard Roark who is a young architect. Very strange personality as he chooses to struggle in adversity rather than compromising on his values. When everybody was against him, against his theories he was the one who believes in his capabilities and remained determined to achieve his vision. He refused to abide by the outdated traditions.
By ayns own admission, Roark is the embodiment of the human spirit and his struggle represents the triumph of individualism over collectivism. The novel is a combination of romantic drama and philosophical work.
