This is the best and the most comical of shows on Star World. It has been running for more than 8 years. It has won numerous Emmy awards. Most recently last to last year it won the Emmy for the best ensemble or cast. It is telecast on Star World on Mondays at 7 pm and then again at 11 pm just before Chicago Hope.
Frasier Crane is a psychiatrist or shrink if you please in the city of Seattle. He has a radio call in show where people can call in and tell him their problems and he gives them the solutions. As you might have guessed by now, this itself leads to numerous hilarious situations.
But no no most shows would stop there. Not this one though. It has been blessed with the most immaculate cast with Kelsey Grammar playing Dr. Frasier Crane. There is his smaller brother Dr. Niles Crane who is also a shrink. There is their father Martin Crane who is an ex cop and his physiotherapist Daphne(an Englishwoman) both of whom live with Frasier. Martin has a dog named Eddie. And oops there is also Roz who is the producer of Frasier’s Radio show.
The dialogue writer’s of this show are wonderful. They have given Frasier two lines which have made the show very popular. One is “ I am listening” and the other one is hello Seattle.
Niles has a wife Marris who is never shown in the show. Niles has a huge crush on the talkative and incredibly attractive Daphne. Every episode puts Frasier in a tight spot and he comes out looking like a fool most of the time. To rub salt in his wounds we have his father Martin and even his dog Eddie who might be one of the best trained animals on T.V (after Lassie). Niles is not left behind.
Roz has a very active social life to put it in polite terms and always adds to the fun. Niles is very eccentric and tries to act very polished and all and this leads to further complications which have you in a riot. Most of the times Frasier is the victim of all the jokes and is the victim. But sometimes he too has the last laugh.
Overall this is a must see. Remember it was more highly rated than even Friends for few years and has won the Emmy more times. Kelsey Grammar has won the Emmy for the best actor in a comedy series a number of times. I will always remember the show for it’s witty one-liners and the immaculate leg-pulling, obscure and at times Oxford English conversation between Frasier and Niles.
