For a company whose sole Unique Selling Point has been that it allows you to recharge your mobile virtually free(By providing you with equivalent amount of Free Vouchers), https://freecharge.in does a really bad job as far as retaining existing customer base.
I did couple of low amount transactions with them(A couple of recharge for Rs.100). Out of first three recharge transaction’s, I faced issues with atleast two of them. In one transaction, the amount was credited to my card but my mobile was not recharged. In another recharge, I found two vouchers missing. Since this was small amount, and I have loads of meaningfull things to do, I did not pursue ahead with them(one email to freecharge support yielded a cute reply "Get in touch with your phone service provider". I did not pursue further for want of time.
I faced similar issue with them recently for a Rs.500 recharge. The transaction was credited to my card but somehow the prepaid mobile was not charged with the amount. From my freecharge online account, I was under the impression that the transaction had went through and it was my service provider(Reliance) who was to blame. I had a nasty fight with the reliance folks - blaming them of deducting the whole Rs.500 recharge amount. They clarified that they have not deducted any amount and that I need to follow-up with the recharge vendor since they did not recieve any recharge request. And yes, this time around too I got one voucher less . Again!
To cut the story short, some of the major issue you are likely to face with https://freecharge.in is:
1)Coupons not arriving(or arriving in lesser Quantity). I faced this twice. Not that it matters to me . But considering that this is a well known complaint many users have with freecharge, they sure have not addressed this issue to date.
2)Your credit card gets charged but your prepaid account does not reflect the charged account. I have faced this twice now.
3)Support response though timely, does leave room for improvement. Simply giving us a "Check with your Telco" as the first response does not cut well with me atleast. For my latest incident, I had to include the email-id for a senior executive of freecharge in my communication with the support team. And the lad was helpful and fast . Despite providing them with my credit card transaction approval number, they would want you to give them screenshot of your CC statement( I guess they believe people would cheat them for Rs.100 refund). so here im stuck, for no fault of mine . sending across emails for a Rs.500 refund from freecharge . Gosh!
I will update this review once I can get my refund back from them.
EDIT: 31 May: It has been almost a month. Yet to get refund from freecharge despite providing them a snapshot of my credit card statement. And this despite having marked Mr.Kunal Shah(CEO) in my email communication. They tell me, a lot of freecharge customers face this issue. All I get from them is that they are still researching the issue. This just lends credence to my belief: Avoid freecharge. Its not worth the trouble.
My suggestion" If you do need to recharge online, utilize your Telco service providers online recharge facilities. I would avoid the ilks of https://freecharge.in . The energy they seep out of you for a Rs.100 voucher is not worth it(Out of 4 Recharge I had with them, I faced issue in 3 of them).
Better recharge online with your telco portal. They might not provide you with free vouchers but atleast they are reliable. More importantly you have one neck to catch(Imagine oscillating between freecharge and your Telco for a Rs.100 recharge . And yes, I faced this with couple of my recharge via freecharge).
AVOID THEM, FREE VOUCHERS ARE NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE CAUSED DUE TO FAILED TRANSACTION’S by https://FREECHARGE.IN
