These are one friends you adore.. Serials jabber along for long without any point and have never been appealing to me. But Friends is an exception, infact quite became an obsession.
I have caught only few glimpses of the show when it was still being aired .. but never shown interest then and never much bothered to spend time to watch it then.
Early last November I was watching a few miscellaneous clips with a friend and there was a gag strip of ‘Friends’ hosted by Conan O Brien. I could see my companion’s face absorbed with delight. This was four years after the show had ended.
And later I was in my local video rental shop looking for movies and saw friends dvd racked up by season there. I just wanted to know whats there to be so much amused about in some silly soap and picked up the 3rd season. I had no intention of watching the entire cd. I thought I will watch it for sometime and then dump it to my pc .
I ended up watching the entire thing and soon followed on with the rest of the seasons like a true cultist, for a overall of span of 4 months.Every night , returning home from work , I would finish dinner switch on my pc , put on the headphones and run a minimum of couple of episodes . I laugh hard and loud enough and then rewind the clip a bit and laugh again.My mom would pass by me sometimes giving me a strange look. I have flown away a couple of times from home then but dutifully tuned on to star world to watch (again) the repeat telecasts going on.Having watched it all back to back these days, I realize there has never been a single dull moment on Friends.
The cast is an absolute enthrall. They mock others , mock themselves and get pretty serious and possessive in their relationships. And then there are moments when you cant help associating yourself with them in situations they face. It would be really difficult for anybody to single out from the six. And the justice they do to their roles, I just finished with the finale today , and you have to see the pain and earnestness in their faces in the airport scene where Ross asks Rachel to stay back.Absolutely great. Of course there are umpteen scenes like this . This one came up immediately.
Now I might have to begin to get on over with the Friends hangover. Friends totally rock .Six great cheers up for the Friends!!
