In Hindi movies, a sequel largely works as well as the original when a star is involved. The very presence of a star perhaps satisfies the expectation and the reason for watching the film. A case in point is Dabangg and its sequel. However, when a film depends on the uniqueness of its story and treatment and not because of a stars presence, its sequel needs an equally unique story and treatment to be successful. Fukrey Returns falters on both.Bholi Punjaban ( Chadda) , a local gangster and money lender has to pay a price for her release from jail, to a politician Babulal Bhatia ( Rajiv Gupta) . He demands ten crore within a week of her release and she reluctantly agrees. Hunny ( Samrat) , Choocha ( Sharma) , Zafar ( Fazal) , Lali ( Manjot Singh) are shocked to meet Punjaban out from jail as they owe money to her. Both sides —Hunny and his gang and Bholi Punjaban — grapple with uncertainties involved in their plans. This provides some light moments in the film.
