The Complete Full House Review

Well, I seem to have become the bad boy at Mouthshut after my review on Bajaj Pulsar The Gay Bike. If you haven’t checked it out already and distrusted me you are free to do so, it’s lying around somewhere in the bikes section……oh heck you know how to get there.

All right so you decided to come check out the complete review of Full House, which shows you are really interested or I did a really good job. We will soon find out. I have been seeing a particular request on the main page of Mouthshut for a very long time asking for reviews on Full House. Now there are already tons of reviews on Full House on this particular website but apparently none of them have quenched your thirst. So I decided to utilize my Sunday morning to type in a review on what could possibly be my favorite English show. As I could not cut down on the size of the review I have split it into two parts to comply with the Mouthshut rules and regulations. All right enough said let’s get on with it….

If you didn’t know it already Full House is a complete Family Entertainer. The series was aired in America in 1987 and lasted right up till 1995. The show was still in the top 20 when it was pulled off the air. The most successful stars to come out of Full House are most probably The Olson twins who jointly played the part of Mitchelle. These two kids are on the fast track to fame and are making mega bucks. Anyway back to Full House here is the story:

The Story:

Danny Tanner is a single parent whose wife has just passed away in a car accident. He now has the responsibility of raising three young girls while managing his own career as a TV show host. So he ropes in the services of his best friend Joey and his brother-in-law Jesse. Joey is an aspiring stand up comic while Jesse is wants to be rockstar for whom his hair and his music are his entire life and in that particular order. (One of the few sensible guys who knows the importance of good hair). Anyway the eldest daughter is Donna Joe DJ for short, who is about ten years old and has Kimmy Gibler a total nut case as her best friend. Stephanie who is a cute little kindergarten going child is Danny’s second daughter. The youngest of them is Mitchelle who is about 6 months old.

The story initially revolves around how Joey and Jesse who have no idea about raising children cope with their new challenge and how Danny tries to move on in life without getting bogged down by the loss of his wife. The story then moves on to Jesse getting tired of going around with a new girl every week and finally finding his perfect woman in Rebbeca Donaldson who is Danny’s co-host on Wake Up San Francisco. Meanwhile Danny has to cope with the challenges that DJ presents as a teenager and Stephanie always wanting to be like her elder sister and bugging her all the while. Meanwhile Jessy and Joey set up and Ad agency and guess what despite being total opposites they gel together as a team and make a huge success. Eventually they decide to go their own ways and concentrate on their first love, music and comedy respectively. Joey gets his own children’s show wherein he plays Ranger Joe. Jesse in the meantime gets married to Rebecca and has two adorable kids called Nicky and Alex. After a lot of struggle he makes it as a musician and brings out a single which is called Forever (Yes it is a Beach Boys song). Meanwhile the girls are growing up pretty fast and DJ has her first steady boyfriend in Steve, who is the captain of the wrestling team and likes nothing more than to eat a lot primarily from the breakfast table of the Tanners. Stephanie too is growing up and tries to understand the complex game of dating while having innumerable confrontations with her arch rival Kimmy Gibler. Danny too finds love after a long time in Vicky who happens to fill in for Rebbeca while she is away on Maternity leave. Joey gets kicked out of the Ranger Joe show and Jesse’s music aint doing to great so they hook up together again and land a gig of doing a radio show. From that point the story kind of stagnates and there isn’t much happening apart from three important angles:

1) It’s discovered that Jesse is a high school dropout, so the family convinces him to go back to night school and complete his graduation

2) Vick and Danny are engaged to be married but they eventually break up

3) DJ and Steve’s long lasting romance also comes to an end when they discover that they have lost that something special they once had. In the last couple of episodes Mitchelle has an accident and loses her memory and the family is distraught. However they stick together and make it past this difficult phase. Mitchelle gets her memory back and Steve makes a special appearance in the last episode. The whole family is together and they make a vow that they will always be together just like they have always been in the past. The ending is kinda mushy and looks like it was picked straight out of a Bollywood melodrama.

Now that I have covered most of the story let’s take a look at the unique features of each character and why they appealed to me along with the people who played them and what they are doing now:

The Characters:

Danny Tanner (Bob Saget):

Danny is a cleanliness freak who goes all out to keep his home free of everything that has anything to do with dirt. His favorite tool is of course his dust buster. He also cleans his cleaning utensils. Danny is you sweet father who cares about his daughters and loves them more than anything in this world. Bob Saget did a great job of playing this character although he wasn’t the original choice. However Bob was nowhere like the wholesome Dad once the camera was off and would always get into trouble with the Girl’s Moms for cracking unsuitable jokes. He once jokingly said that his character (Danny Tanner) had to be gay as he went out with so few women and did all the cleaning in the house.

Jesse Katsapolis (John Stamos):

Jesse is an Elvis maniac. He loves his life and is a happy go lucky man. He has a passion for bikes and is very possessive about his Harley but nearly not as obsessed as he is with his hair. He goes only to one Hair Stylist, who happens to be Ali Handro and wont let anyone else touch his hair. His theory is when you are born you are bald, when you grow old you go bald again. So it’s the time in between that you gotta grow your hair, nourish them properly and flaunt them. (Couldn’t agree with him more) If you haven’t got it by now Jesse is my favorite character in Full House. John Stamos according to me did an amazing job of playing this slightly bossy and dominating character and still made him look lovable. However John was very thrilled when FH was over as he was typecast as an Uncle and was getting only Goody-Goody roles after that. He took a break for quite some time after FH and then got into doing some negative roles. He also starred in a movie called “How to marry a Billionaire in Ten days”. When ABC was contemplating bringing back Full House again in late 2000, John asked them to just take his truck and run him over instead of asking him to play the character of Jesse again.

Well, I had a lot more to type out including the remaining characters and some fun facts about Full House. Anyway Mouth shut says the review cant be more than 8000 characters so there you go. However if you wanna check out the complete review you can always check it out at https://geocities.com/kidmanekorner/The_complete_fullhouse_review.htm
