Sickeningly sweet saccharin show starring the obnoxious Olsen twins, Mary Kate and Ashley, who play the youngest daughter Michelle.
The show centers around a sort of extended family.
Danny, the dad is a widower raising 3 daughters, Michelle, the youngest, Stephanie, the middle girl and DJ, the oldest.
They share a house in San Fransisco with Dads friend Joey, an aspiring comedian and Uncle Jesse, an aspiring musician.
(In the last 2 seasons of the show, Uncle Jesse gets married and he and his wife have twin boys. And they all still live in the same house. Must be nice having a house large enough to house 4 adults and 5 children all having their own bedrooms)
The show is about the trials and tribulations of raising 3 girls and all the situations they go through. For instance, Stephanie is always bugging DJ, and DJ is growing up too fast and Michelle (who seems to be the smartest one on the show, although the youngest) always does something cute and precocious to make the older sisters realize that they should get along. Somethimes they even make her smarter than Dad, Uncle Jesse and Joey (Who is forever lingering in his teenage years anyway.) Dj (the oldest) starts dating and stays out past curfew, with a boy dad didnt approve of in the first place....Big story, he tried to kiss her and she broke curfew and dad had his stern dad talk with her. Youre grounded for 2 weeks, no TV, no dates, friends over the house, no going to the mall! And DJ replies with, I guess it is a deserving punishment. (OOOOOOOOO SAD FACE AND ALL)
Aw , says dad, I think youve learned your lesson, I cant ground you. Hugs, hugs. And just then baby Michelle strolls into the room with something cutsie to say...............And the laugh track, canned laughter, and prerecorded chuckles and guffaws come from the audience.
Come on folks.........This show should be called Full Fantasy House. Ive never met any family quite like The Tanner family. Always happy, ultra forgiving, learning a lesson from everyday life. You cant just stay out past curfew and say oops, sorry. There has to be a long intricate sad story as to why.
And lest we forget, the girls are all cute and DJ only dates football players and the most popular boys in school.
Also, when Dad isnt working as the host of a morning talk show (Good Morning San Fransisco) hes busy being obsessivly clean about the house. When Jesse isnt working (At what, I dont know) hes busy looking for the ladies and doing assinine things to try and become a famous rock star. And for Joey, he just does stupid things throughout the show and hes another one that I cant figure out exactly what he does for a living.(If anything.)
So, the girls fight and argue, Dad gets angry with them, or Joey gets angry with them or Uncle Jesse gets angry with them. Whoevers turn it is to be the main character for the 30 minute show that week.
They also have a dog Comet (sometimes hes there, sometimes hes not.....)He doesnt really add to the storyline anyway.
Id only reccomend this show to very young children (not because of the storylines, but because The Olsen Twins are popular now, what with their full line of girls clothing, trademark school supplies and such...$$$$$)
Young girls ages 4 to about 8 may enjoy the show, but thats about it.
Mind you, there is no violence, sex or bad language, so if your 6 year old daughter wants to watch...........let her.
