An Entertaining Improvement Over Dabbang

First of all, even if you have watched Salman starrer Dabbang, still you will find Gabbar Singh interesting, and most importantly where Dabbang faulters, I mean to say the slow second half, Gabbar Singh keeps the entertainment quotient going in this half too, and thus it is a good entertaining improvement over Dabbang.

The story is same as Dabbang. Venkatarathnam Naidu(Pawan Kalyan) lives with his mother(Suhashini) and his stepfather(Nagineedu) and his son(Ajay). From childhood, everyone calls his brother as Hero, so Venkat chooses to be a villain, and as he liked Sholay movie much and especially character of Gabbar Singh, he started calling himself Gabbar Singh. When he grew up, he become a daring police officer. He got transfer to his own village Kondaveedu, and there he got to a straight encounter with Siddhappa Naidu (Abhimanyu Singh), who is a local gunda, and a youth leader. Gabbar Singh meets Bhagyalakshmi(Shruthi Hassan) accidently, and instantly fall in love with her.

On one side, Gabbar Singh was destroying the political career of Siddhappa Naidu, on the other side, his mother died, which in the end is revealed to be killed by Siddhappa Naidu. Rest of the story is a cat and mouse game between the hero and the villain and how hero in the end, kills the villain.. In between, how he marry Bhagyalakshmi, is a scene to look out for.

Performance wise, Pawan Kalyan gave a stunning performance with ease. Some of the scene will really make you feel that the movie was originally made for Pawan’s hardcore fans giving them enough reason to whistle. The two songs of Pawan Kalyan early movies, Khushi and Jalsa. In one scene, Brahmanandam goes to villain’s den, taking the cutout of Gabbar Singh, it is both entertaining and comical. And the way he treat Ali is entertaining.

Shruthi Hassan has done a commendable job as a village girl. She rather look much more beautiful than Sonakshi in the south Indian attire. They both share some really good scenes and chemistry.

Abhimanyu Singh doesn’t give the intensity of villain as Sonu Sood was. Takkinela Bharani does the role well. Kota Srinivas Roa as Shruthi’s Dad has not much of a role.

Ajay’s role is creepy. Nagineed is OK.

Ali and Brahamanandam do good justice to their role.

There are few scenes added to the Dabbang movie, especially in the second half. There is an antarakshri episode, where Gabbar Singh  asks the villain’s sidekick to sing song and the way they sing is comical, and probably thats the reason Salman Khan and Arbaz Khan bought the scene. Gabbar Singh’s marriage is nice.

The music and background music is a plus point, and DSP scores high point for that.

The cinematography is nice and songs have a nice picturisation.

Director Harish Shankar keeps both the half of the movie entertaining, and continues his good form after Mirapakai.

Final words: Gabbar Singh is a Good Entertainer overall.
