Gangster comes from the Bhatt Camp and is an indication of how the Indian Film Industry is finally coming of age. Get a cast with some familiar (read affordable) faces and New comers, add some great direction, fantastic editing & lighting,
a simple story, a different locale and fantastic music, you have an entertaining flick.
I really hope this movie does well and encourages others to experiment the same way. All those who are interested in photography, editing and lighting would appreciate this flick a lot more. The background music is one of the best that you will
get to hear, brilliant!
The story is very simple, follows the life of a woman (New Comer Kangana) in Seoul (of all the places, Wont do much for Seoul as a tourist destination though). There is more to her then one can see. Enter Aakash (Mr. Emraan Kiss Kiss Hashmi) crooning lovely songs for his love in an indian restaurant in Seoul. Story keeps switching effortlessly from present to flashback and keeps you involved all through. Kangana is brilliant for a first timer. Cant imagine any other of the current lot of female actors doing this role any justice. Her performance as an alcoholic is chilling and close enough to reality (all alcoholics would agree). Emraan is improving (this was the first full film I had seen with him in it), he does get to do Kangana as well (there is a section of cinema goers who come to watch him kiss !!! why watch go do the real thing :-) . Shiney Ahuja acts well and shows a sensitive side of men which is alive and makes love a divine feeling (even in todays moral brigade).
Movie is highly recommended for a hot Summer noon, with a chilled drink, comfortable seats and some interesting company ;-)
Do go out and buy the music, its fab. Waiting for the next Bhat camp release....
