Gangster..The name suggested another underworld film but a very famous saying crossed my mind, Never Judge a book by itz cover. So with this famous quote in my mind I started watching the film.
Love, Betrayal, pain, depression, happiness, satisfaction, craving for love;are the main concepts of the movie.
I was pleasantly surprised by the performances of Shiney Ahuja n Kangana, Emraan Hashmi-this man has delivered another very convincing performance. He knows how to keep his critics silent.
Remember this is Kanganas first film n Shineys second film. The theme of the movie was love which has been so often manipulated in hindi cinema. The fact that a woman can fall in love with two guyz at the same time, n what happens when a woman is betrayed in love was so beautifully depicted.Rarely has indian cinema witnessed such a powerful script;obvisiouly exceptions are there like Mother India, Pyaasa, Khamoshi, Kagaz Ke Phool, Black n so on....The director has done complete justice to the film. The scene where Kangana breaksdown after telling Emraan about her childs death is worth mentioning, and not forget the scene where Shiney Ahuja realises that she has betrayed him is a heart breaking scene.
It would be unfair not to mention the music, inparticularly, songs like
Ya Ali, Beeghi Beeghi n Tu hi meri Shab hai.Music of the film is one of the best this year. The placement of the songs was near to perfection.
Kudos to the Bhatts for attempting yet another different n difficult subject.Hats off
to the director for entering a territory that has rarely been attempted.
Bhatts have mostly been ignored @ the awards despite some wonderful films like
Jism, Sur, Raaz, Arth, Sangharsh, Kalyug .....This year hopefully it will be different.
If ever there was a film that deserved awards surely Gangster is one of them.
