Mesmerizing Gangtok

Gangtok is the capital of Sikkim, a state, a part of our own North East India. Starting right from my childhood days I wanted to visit a place where I could experience snowfall. Sikkim being the nearest place, my mom, dad & myself, we planned for a short trip in the month of february. It was a off season so attracted less crowd. Our first pit stop was gangtok where we stayed in PWD guest house. We booked a shared taxi to Nathula pass. One can google about Nathula pass. It is Indo-china border located at an altitude of 14k feet above sea level surrounded my snow covered mountains. One word to describe the complete view- "Spellbind". On our way back down, we asked the driver to stop the car in the middle of nowhere. The whole place was covered with snow. We played there for few minutes, got some good pictures. From there, we were taken to Harbajan Baba Mandir. People in sikkim, especially army personnel’s are devotees of Harbajan Baba. Some said there is a legend behind this & even today people can see his spirit. Anyways once we were back to the guest house, we took off to the streets. There were lot of shops mostly owned by locals & few marwari’s where one can buy awesome winter stuffs. I must admit, if you are shopping enthusiastic this is the place for you. Next day we went for local sightseeing. We booked a local boy to show us around. Mostly there are monastery’s all over the place. Even the views of monastery’s are breath taking. This trip was further completed as we returned home via Darjeeling which is another completely different aspect of this trip. Doesn’t matter if you plan a trip with friends or family, I am 100% sure, it will be a memorable one.!
