Today, I am going to talk about gate way of India. A monument built in 1924, the construction started in the year 1911. Many tourists visit gate way of India throughout the year. Opposite to the gate way of India is the taj Mahal hotel.
Gateway of India is the classic example of Indo-saracenic archietecture, built by George wittet. It was build to show respect to the visit of king George and queen marry. The gateway was build combining hindu and muslim architecture.
The gateway of India is famous for its ferry rides, wherein one 20 min trip will cost you 80 rupees and the upper deck will cost you 90 rupees. People also use ferries for going to elephants caves, panvel(Uran). Elephanta caves are build during 5th century ad. It is also unesco world heritage in 1987 declared.
The boat is quite risky at gateway of India, well they there is not much safety for people. Boat owners do not count the number of people while boarding them to boat. So in the event of any accident, they won’t be able to trace the exact no of people. It is high security zone since the terror attacks happened in 2008.
Overall it is one of the best tourist attraction in Mumbai.
You can reach gateway of India, via bus, taxi or your own vehicle.
