Which Product First?

To correct all the misinformed women out there who I have observed putting on concealer THEN foundation(it is now a pet peeve of mine!)

The correct order for doing your makeup is as follows:

1)  Foundation-Start off with a shade of foundation that matches the skin on the inside of your wrist.  Any darker and you’ll look like a bad fake n’ bake accident.  Add some foundation to the edge of your clean sponge and apply it thinly to your face, including your eyelids.  The cake look is not in.  To avoid a ring around the jawbone effect, blend well around the bony areas.

2)  Concealer-For oily skin, I recommend a stick concealer.  For dry skin, a liquid concealer.  Do not apply the concealer directly onto any pimples because you don’t want to contaminate the concealer and spread those nasty bumps.

3)  Powder-apply loose or packed powder but again, don’t cake it on.  Powder is actually used to’seal the effect’, so it should be used last.  Since it is the last thing I use, it is in third place.

4)  Eye makeup-First, apply a loose powder around your eyes.  Then apply your choice of eyeshadow(powder or gel).  As for colour choice, make sure your colour compliments your eyes.  Make them stand out!  After, thinly line your eyes with an eyeliner.  I recommend that darker people wear black, lighter people wear brown or navy.  Other colours are fine, I’m sticking to the basics.  If you need it, apply two coats of mascara and be sure to comb your lashes since chunkies are not all the rage.

5)  Blush-PLEASE choose a blush that is right for your colouring.  If you have cool colouring, choose something with a pink undertone like peach.  If you have warm, choose a beigy blush.  Apply it at the apple of the cheek and blend it towards the hairline over the cheekbone.  And for goodness sake, blush is to make you look healthy, so don’t overdo it!

That’s the end of my ranting, enjoy the fresh new look with my tips!
