Mouthshut is the best! But there are certain features that I believe should be changed/implied.
Firstly, why is there so much strictness upon the originality of any article? The other day I had a friend request me for the features of the ABN AMRO Gold credit card, and I frankly had no time then to write a complete review. But what I did to help was to quickly compile certain points directly from different websites of ABN AMRO into one ’’to the point’’ concise article. It was removed before my friend could access it. Then once I wrote a review on ’’Creating/Editing Music on ur PC’’. Okay, I copied it from another small website, and they got that removed too. But friends, I happen to own that small website, where I had written my very own article!! So, is it an offence to copy-paste your own work? That way, all my work are copy pasted! Yes, I type ’em down on my Notepad, and copy-paste it into the textbox for submitting. The ’time-out’ set by the website isnt enough for me to write a complete article anyway! lol... But yes, I still love mouthshut and am now writing reviews from scratch.
Suggestion for a new feature:- GROUP
One more thing... wouldn’t it be more exciting to have ’’Groups’’ on this website? Something similar to Yahoo! Groups, MSN Groups, and best of all Audiogalaxy Groups! Most you people out there might be familiar with that.
Why Group?
First off, it creates a better bond between the members. Second in, it gives it a more powerful effect, and is basically more FUN! Mouthshut is all about having a community of different people discuss about all the better things in life. Building Groups strengthens the various links you create with other members. It categorizes people into sects they want to be in. For instance, I might create a Group titled ’’PC Games’’, set a good profile for the Group informing basically what it’s all about. Then have interested members join it. Assign various operators/moderators to manage the Group, that could make work lighter for the Owner, as well as for the people at Mouthshut. The strength of a Group and the number of articles posted by it’s members collectively, would reflect the popularity/progress of that Group. Anyone would want their group to be organized, have the best members, the best articles relevant to that group, which would in effect, benefit the growth of that Group, and the growth of all the Groups would singularly result in the growth of Mouthshut. Well that was what we had on Audiogalaxy, where the Groups were for bringing people together of similar tastes in music. Here we’re better off, the Groups can serve to bring people together of similar tastes in anything and everything! Basically, it’s about laying emphasis on the unity factor, among the diversities.
The Meaningless Purpose you can’t do without...
Expanding your Group somewhat gives you a purpose. Now everyone knows that you can write the best reviews here on Mouthshut and still not get paid for them. Why then do we enjoy being here? According to news, I cant even redeem my points for any gift. Then why still do I enjoy watching my points grow? Simple, it gives you a sense of purpose or objective (however purposeless it really is!) to make your points the highest! To have the highest viewership for your hardwork. It’s all in the mind! Similarly you would want your Group to grow too!
Suggestion for a new feature:- DELETING YOUR REVIEW
Maybe i’m not well informed, but I don’t think there is any way to delete an article that you might have once posted. If this is true, then I believe there should be a change.
Well I guess now even without all those proposed features and with all those claimed faults, Mouthshut.com is still up with its 99% of goodness!
