And on earth.... came man...

Its time to write a review laced with angst.

Whats the best thing that came out of The Big Bang - that huge explosion that, scientists believe, created a lot of cool planets and stuff? No need to launch google. its THE EARTH silly!

Whoever or whatever created all those balls of rock floating around, must have had a soft spot in their hearts for this planet. Its blessed with the power to sustain LIFE!

The earth is BLESSED. Thats the keyword - BLESSED! Its blessed with an amazing substance called WATER that has powers that most magic potions can only dream of. Its blessed with Oxygen, that gas that we shamelessly consume day after day. Its blessed with FLORA. those beautiful trees and plants that flower and produce succulent fruit that feeds the inhabitants of this BLESSED planet. Its got FAUNA - creatures great and small. each one more beautiful than the other. Its got the HUMAN BEING - perhaps the most incredible creation of them all.

I’m a parrot. I say this again. We’re BLESSED! Blessed that fate didnt decide to plant us on harsh MARS or on MERCURY where we’d become crisp kebabs in seconds. Fate chose us to put on this planet - EARTH!

The EARTH has been termed MOTHER in many a written and spoken word. No other word suits this planet. It sustains, it nurtures and most of all - IT CARES. Our race wouldnt survive without the water, the oxygen, the fruit, the grain, the tree, the fauna and countless other things that we get from our planet.

Now we were good when we started. Our race, that is. We took what we needed to sustain. We didnt destroy. We preserved. We respected nature. All was well. The planet thrived.

But then, like the Earth, we were blessed too. Blessed with more powers than we should have been blessed with. While the rest of creation followed the laws of nature, we cut our own path. We grew. And as we grew, and learnt new things, our NEEDS grew. We started taking more than we needed. WE got GREEDY!

The human race thrived. Our numbers increased. We began to prey on the land, on flora and fauna - to build ourselves. And as we began our breeding process - we trampled on everything that stood in our way.

We made a big mistake. We tried to play God. To create when creation wasnt in our mission directives. We invented - things of great ingenuity. things that simplified and complicated lives at the same time. And in doing so, we needed more and more resources to build and create.

Who paid the price for all this? Trees were cut down for fuel and construction. Water sources were leeched by landsharks for development. Industries pumped toxins into the same water that quenched the thirst of the minions of the land. Their chimneys bellowed toxic smoke that blended with the very Oxygen that sustains the creatures on this planet. The fuel that Earth provides was being converted into toxins by machinery and vehicles and pumped back into the atmosphere. the list is long.

Theres a tear in the OZONE layer caused by the very toxins that were released by the machines we built. The Ozone layer protects us from being incinerated by the Suns powerful rays. Several species of fauna are gone forever or in the process of making an exit from the roster. The forests that hold the land mass together and provide us with Oxygen are being destroyed. no. I cant go on. because its what every one of us already knows. WE are systematically taking out the planet.

And after years of abuse. the planet wakes up(atleast a portion of it). A few caring souls have banded together to protect and preserve what we have. People have started to realize the value of planting a tree. Water bodies are being revived. Is it too late? Its never too late.

The Earth has the power to heal. Given a chance and all the support it can get, the damage can be undone over a period of time. Protecting our water sources is vital. Planting trees can replenish the oxygen supply thats gradually diminishing. Proper waste disposal helps. Factories are one of the key culprits and they need to re-evaluate their practices and educate themselves.

There is no shortcut here. If we dont start at some point, we wont have anything to fight for. We wont have anything left!

As reality dawns upon us, we must all understand that we gave this planet the tag - MOTHER! so.

THIS IS OUR MOTHER! OUR PLANET! WE MUST PRESERVE IT AT ALL COSTS!

~finis~

PS: I didnt write this review with science in mind. Its not your source for facts and figures. I wrote this because I love this planet.

Also. there is a PREACHY tone to the whole thing. it wasnt intentional. forgive me for that one.
