Whiter than White.

To give advice on fabric bleach is really quite simple.

If you are going to use a liquid bleach on the items you are washing, make sure that the fabric is bleach safe, and do not use on colored items. Liquid bleach will remove not only dirt and stains, but it will remove the color!

While the washing machine is filling with water(before the clothes go in) add your detergent and bleach. Don’t pour the bleach directly on to the fabric. This will cause the fabric to weaken. Usually about 1 cup of bleach is needed to do a load of laundry and have it come out sparkling white.

I myself use bleach on my whites every other time I wash, due to the weakening of the fabric.

On the other hand, there are now color safe powdered bleach products on the market, advertised as being able to be used on all washables, white or colored. But my advice to you on that is, make sure the article you are washing will be color safe by testing out the color safe bleach on a small, non noticable area before going gung ho and tossing it in the washer and winding up with a tie dyed effect!

Those are really the only cautions I can think of while using bleach in your laundry.

Of course, the other cautions are naturally, keep out of reach of children. Use in a well ventilated area, do not drink or swallow.

There are other uses for bleach besides laundry, so I thought I’d just add them to my review.

It is helpful in the sickroom to clean and deodorize things, such as bedpans, dishes, utensils(not silver!), rubber sheeting, etc. Use full strength, let sit for 5 minutes and rinse .

Use it to keep household drains clean and fresh. Pour 1 cup down each drain in your home, once a week. Let sit for 1/2 hour and then run hot water for a minute or two.

You can also use it to keep garbage cans clean and odor free by using 1/4 cup of bleach in a gallon of water and using it to wash out your household and outside garbage cans.

Household bleach contains sodium hypochlorite which is corrosive to skin, eyes and mucus membranes. So, be careful when using it. And one more thing never mix bleach with ammonia while cleaning. This causes toxic fumes, which cause nose bleed, vomiting and could have you wind up in the hospital.

Be safe and use it carefully.
