Note: This review was overwritten due to a possible MS bug. Ive recreated the original from memory in a truncated form.
Essentially what I said in the original was that on 1 April 2005, the Bharat Stage-3 norms based on Euro-3 emission norms will apply in several major cities in India.
As it stands, 11 cities including the four metros will be affected.
How does this affect us? Well, the present diesel cars being sold(with the possible exception of CRDI engine based Hyundai Accent and Mercedes Benz) cannot comply with Euro-3 emission norms.
So anyone intending to buy a diesel, WAIT till April 2005.
To anticipate a question, yes, I know that the new norms will apply only to vehicles registered after Apr 2005. But if you buy a diesel vehicle between now and April 05, its resale value will be a sorry figure once the new norms take effect. So take care!
PS. I emailed manufacturers asking them if they have a upgrade plan for people who need to buy a car now but none of them reverted.
