Being humble is never the solution.

A Computer that is solely meant for programming. is actually meant for everything!

This is an important point that most programmers forget. If you are designing a programme, you should be able to run and test it as well. And most contemporary programs are not just file-accessing programs, they need a lot of memory and other resources.

As a Visual Basic developer one cannot stick around with Visual Basic 6 for much longer. The .NET platform will get hold of you even before you try to get hold of it.:-)

Thus any contemporary PC should be able to maintain the .NET Visual Studio’s requirements. Furthermore, if you are intending graphics intensive work, you need a boost in graphics hardware as well. Enough of lectures. lets get on to the real stuff!

MINIMUMl PC Configuration for a programmer:

  1. Pentium 4 2 Ghz or above(non-HT) Prescott Core

  2. Any Intel chipset motherboard(preferably ASUS, )

or Intel Original 845GVSRL(for Graphics Programmers, use Intel 865 GBF)

  1. 80GB 7200 RPM Hard Disk Drive.(preferably Samsung)

  2. 52X CD-RW Drive.

(Preferably ASUS Quiet Drives. NO SAMSUNG due to its door problems.)

  1. 1.44 MB Floppy Disk Drive.

  2. 15’ Coloured Monitor.(Samsung, LG, Philips, Sony. most good brands will do.)

  3. Any Standard Keyboard and Optical Mouse.

(extensive mousework and long stretches of work will need optical mouse and a mechanical keyboard.)

  1. Any Standard Stereo Speakers.

  2. Any TAll Tower ATX Cabinet with a 350W or more SMPS

  3. An UPS is required.(preferably APC.)
