Yes, have heard of all sorts of classes, club class, elite class, designer class and others. Class is a word used as a differentiator from the standard types, and again we have and most car owners are aware of is car class. Though mentally this is structured in our brain the term is never used. In this short commentary I will explore the mind of the Indian car class.
For starters we have the pecking order Super Luxury Saloon, Sports and Sedan then the High end SUV’s then the other SUV, alongwith the “A” segment vehicles followed by the “B” segment and then the entry levels. I do no want to mention the makes and models as almost all of us are aware of. This is quickly reflected when you are at a signal or caught in traffic and very evident at a parking lot of a hotel and resorts if you take a break along the highways. In the order I mentioned the higher order will look down on you, and they have the right too! Remember that they have paid for this alongwith the performance and comfort benefits.
If you belong to the lower end how do you deal with this silent onslaught attitude? Follow these simple guide points:(a) Psyche yourself out that you own the most appropriate car that suits you and serves your purpose(b) Remember that they have paid for this and you are saving money by not upgrading only for your ego(c) Not all people who own high end vehicles look down on you, to most it really serves their need.(d) Thing big, never have a low self esteem; you are only as small as you think you are!(e) Look over their shoulder preferably with sunglasses.(f) Be yourself; do not let the surrounding intimidate you.(g) Positions may differ and status is transient, remember we all serve the one Creator and not creation.
