The main reason to introduce DTH service in India was to collect high service tax that govt. was not getting otherwise. when cable operators were there, govt. was hardly getting any service tax. now with DTH govt. is assured of service tax. they were least concern about the consumers. govt. knew that service providers will rob the customers if ever dth omplemented.
Each every service provider is trying to milk their customers either thru high channel rates or high support serive charges. the channel rates are far beyond what govt had notified through trai and our govt is helpless. even supreme court bended against teh strong lobby of dth providers (like tata, zee, sun airtel). all service providers are heavily funding all political parties so it is not possible for govt to go against them.
Now we ffel that we were better off with cable walla then these companies. they are always looking for means to collect money from the customers. With cable wall we knew what will be our monthly outgoing was. but current scenario we dont know. if anything goes wrong, pay for the visit. and long hours on telephone is added feature.
