Listening ears

For quite some time I refrained from writing for the want of a befitting topic that is usually interesting and useful but in vain. It ended with ears. It sounds a little weird and I am a bit skeptical as where( Category) to post it but then let it be here

So is ear a peripheral organ a very important one for completing human interactions and cognitive processes. Coming to its functionality it works much like eyes receiving external stimuli and converting into signals that are read and acted upon by human brain. Ears are at work from morn to night, the morning alarm at 7, and the traffic noise at 10am, Boss’s verbal instructions throughout the day, side talks of colleagues and furtive conversations of newly weds on phone, warden’s lashing at dinning hall manners  at 8 pm   and parent’s customary cell call at 9. Pm and of course temperamental or ecstatic outbursts of the **man in your life.

Ears are party to so much everyday. Poor things …

*But how often we get the ears when we wish to speak? Usually people hear but don’t listen … that is how I find and I am sure there will be many others who often or not so often crave for those listening ears. How many times it happened that you had someone who had the patience, will and time to listen you when you were feeling extremely alone and distraught?

Why does it happen that we don’t find listening ears?

  1. we  are not interesting talkers

2.we don’t talk about things that are interesting for others( x ‘s salary, y’s boyfriend, z’s dressing sense and blah blah)

3.we are intellectually at different levels (either a step above or two below)

well there may be many other reasons that I could not fathom but it is for sure that  Of all the Basic instincts the need to be listened and understood is paramount. The mere assurance that “I am listening you” is enough to drive us everyday in our worldly pursuits and rid of the tensions and worries that keep hounding us with unfailing regularity. All of us have our unique set of problems and approaches to handle those but what difference does a pair of listening ear make?

1. It is a sink for our held up feelings

2.An assurance that we are not alone in this

3. It enhances one’s  self esteem

So there are no two ways about it we all need listening ears … but how to bail out of this and Where to find them?…

A bosom Pal: one who really genuinely understands you and who you can ring up to in the middle of night. It is a rare species but not yet extinct.

Sibling: yes and especially if you are of the same age.it makes easy for you to unwind.

Libraries: libraries become the meeting point of interesting and intellectually similar people so be a member of a library.

Clubs: It is again a social platform so chances are good that you  hit upon someone you wanted to talk to.

Internet:** of course especially the ones like MS  where you have so many ears that listen to you without you speaking anything .

so  I am sure you dont  go berserk next time asking  "Can anyone lend me your  ears?
