The DMER/ DNB has conducted the all India NEET exam for admission to seats of PG medical for the year 2018-19.
After finalizing the state meril list, the process of admission was started on 6.4.2018 after filling of preferences online by the students.
As per the press release, DMER had made it very clear that Private Medical colleges will not be considered for admission process as their issues regarding fees wete still pending with the Fees Regulating Authority.
However, when the first list for admission was published on 6.04.18, surprisingly the private medical colleges were seen to be considered for admission. Accordingly, many students have got admission to their choice branch/ college.
But, again a big surprise was to happen. When the students approached the respective private medical colleges, they were denied of admission to course on the ground that demand of private medical colleges for hiking the fees was not agreed upon by the FRA.
Hundreds of such students were deprived of their choice branch and college. Last date of admission is 12.04.18.
On seeing that the issue is stranded, DMER has announced that such students who are denied admission by the private medical colleges, will be considered for admission in second round.
This is utter nonsense by DMER, as this step is against the rules which clearly states that if any student doesn’t take admission in the alloted college for whatever reason, the such students will be debarred from participating in further rounds of admission.
Further, this step of DMER is also cause of injustice towards those students who generally gets benefited in the subsequent rounds of admission.
Not only this, all such students who were considered for admission in private medical colleges will loose the opportunity of getting their choice of branch and college both.
In nutshell, the decision of DMER to consider such students who are denied admission by the private medical colleges till their issue of fee hike gets resolved is completely abrupt and unjustified towards the entire community of students.
The simplest solution would be to extend the last date of admission to private Medical colleges till their issue of fee hike is resolved by the FRA and accordingly the second round of admission be delayed.
If DMER does not act in confirmation to natural justice, then taking stay on the entire admission process with the intervention of the Hon. Court is the only solution.
