Creation of CENTRALISED VACUUM PITS ON BOTH SIDES of coaches of trains ofINDIAN RAILWAYS to throw bidegradable waste(DRY AND WET)powered by ELECTRICITY OR SOLAR ENERGY---innitiative idea for India Innovation Initiative (the government launched idea initiative initiative on march 6 2009 . the last date being 30 th june 2009)The Department of Science and Technology (DST) Monday launched the India Innovation Initiative (i3) in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and communication analyst Agilent Technologies
Anyone who has traveled on Indian trains is fully aware that the waste disposal facilities on board are lacking in more ways than one .The general passengers throw leftover food , vegetables , spoiled foods , sweet wrappers , tetra packs , pet bottles etc on tracks and in the compartment24 /7 days .Some birds and animals feed on the wasteaccumulated on tracksbut remaining waste just lies there on tracks all over India. Morever the continuous dust , cobwebswhich accumulates inside the compartment throughout the journey makes it almost difficult to bear.
*My objective is
1.To segregate(DRY AND WET) bio-degradable waste at source in the compartments of the coaches
2. To promote cleaner green India and cleaner tracks all over India.,
3. Reduction of health hazards for railway cleaners,
4.Increase in job opportunity at each and every rural station and
5.Increase in income generated through advertising for railways.
6.To improve quality of service for Indian and foreign travelers .
7.To create more job opportunities in developing these vacuum pits by railway employees.
METHODOLOGY
The WET VACUUM PITS are placed on the concealed left side of coaches .When a person wants to throw leftover foods, remaing fruits skin, vegetables egg shells , tea bags , spoiled food , cotton, coconut , broken earthen pots , bones &skin of non –vegetarian foods etc, One needs to press open wet vacuum pit and one can throw the waste there . .The left concealed tubing channel of wet waste , vacuums with force towards the PRE- SEPARATOR DRUM OF WET WASTE placed in either of the first or last coaches of the train according to experts from IRCON(INDIAN RAILWAY CONSTRUCTION INTERNATIONAL LTD ) OR RDSO (THE RESEARCH DESIGNS AND STANDARD ORGANIZATION )
The DRY VACUUM PITS are placed on the concealed right side of coaches , when a person wants to throw sweet wrappers , plastic bags, paper, pieces of glass, pieces of wood, battery , broken wires, aluminium foil, tetra packs, plastic pet bottles, chewing gums , leather pieces, or rubber . One needs to press open dry vacuum pit and one can throw the waste there . The right concealed tubing channel of dry waste, vacuums with force towards the PRE-SEPARATOR DRUM OF DRY WASTE **placed in either of the first or last coaches of the train ..
Every railway station must have VERMICOMPOST PIT FOR WET WASTE and RECYCLING UNIT OF DRY WASTE .Additional drums needs to be placed if the length of the journey is for more than 2 days .
When the WET SEPARATOR DRUM is 90 %full , it sends an alarm after which all vacuum pits in all the coaches shuts down . So one cannot throw anything unless the HOSE and ADAPTOR is connected to a new empty drum .Same is applicable for DRY SEPARATOR DRUM . The full wet and dry drums must be immediately unloaded at the next nearing station and additional empty drums may or may not loaded as per the need .
Futher ACCESSORIES have to used like suitable WORKING HOSE , ADAPTORS , PRE-SEPARATORS like DRY SEPARATOR OR WET SEPARATOR DRUMS .After the train gets empty of its passengers, then CLEANERS with the help of different WORKING HOSE and ADAPTORS must vacuum the coaches from inside connecting to the dry or wet pit . In this way dust, cobwebs settled during the journey is removed
Tube and fittings for conveying networks. Tube and fittings for vacuum systems. Theymay be specified as either TUBING (tube)(light wall, O.D.), or as PIPING(heavywall, I.D.) depending on the application.
TUBE OR TUBING as it is sometimes called, is generally installed in LIGHT WALL for multi operator vacuum systems. Loading systems are usually installed with PIPING but abrasive products will certainly require a heavy wall network like in INDUSTRIES
.The bump on the left side and right side of the coaches can be concealed with ADVERTISING INLETSon the inner and outer walls of all the coaches **.This way Indian railway can generate additional income. The concealed tubing may be done on the upper area just 2 feet above the window or lower area, just1 feet below the window of the coach
* There would be more job opportunity at all the rural areas to manage VERMICOMPOST PITS and RECYCLING UNITS at all rural railway station .
These vacuum pits must be started in inte-rcity trains, luxury - trains, international trains as length of the journey is more and more waste is collected.
Passenger trains and superfast
trains must be started gradually.
Additionally Indian railways must make futuristic investment in solar lighting system, which do not have recurring cost of energy consumption.
Indian railways must use tinted glass /solar windows to save 40%energy consumed by AC and replace incandescent lamp with compact fluorescent lamps (cfls)which use 66% less energy than conventional light bulbs.
Solar water heating system must be introduced for toilets and kitchens of the Indian railways .
