Set Top box are devices used to display Digital output on a TV by the means of a cable or satellites.
I have been using the Tata Sky Set top box from 2007 and so far it has been a wonderdul experience.
There are many other options in the market like Airtel, Dish TV, videocon etc but I like Tatasky more. It has good looks and better features. The User interface of Tata sky is quite good as well.
Now a days there are set top box that have an On demand record feature which is cool. It allows you to record your favourite shows on an external Usb devices. One good example is Dish TV.
Well. I own Tata sky HD. It has the HD ability but it can not record your TV shows on demand. Although it has a USB port, but its not meant for recording purposes. but for fixing technical problems.
However, if you like recording videos on Demand as well as sharing it directly with your phone, you can go for Tatasky PLUS HD Box, also called Tatasky Transfer HD Box.
This is by far the best setup box in my opinion. Best thing is it comes with an in built 500 GB Hard drive which is plenty of space to record your TV shows for a fairly long time. Of course you can pause, forward amd rewind plus you get access to some cool in built web apps.
Keep in mind some tips while using the Tata sky Set top Box
( 1) Do not remove and insert the Digicard unnecessarily.
( 2) Make sure the audio and video cables are inserted properly in to the set top bix as well as the TV.
( 3) If its raining outside, then wait for the signals to come back. Do not mess with the set top box.
( 4) Make sure there is no blockage between the remote and the Set top box. If there are problems, check the remote first.
( 5) Keep the Set top box at a cool and dry place. Humidity can certainly damage the electronics inside the Set top box.
