I think, without much introduction, I can start my review. Summer heat is worrying all of us a lot.Even in Kerala, which is a coastal place is burning, as if the Sun has set fire around the state. The summer rains are ofcource a relief but the companions of that rain- lightning and thunder is causing widespread anguish here. I can imagine North India how hot North would be.....if our condition is like this. But friends, these all are the results of our misbehaviour towards our Mother Earth . Global Warming has reached India too......
But this does nt mean that you have to sit in AC 24hours..... This doesnt mean that you should have a swimming pool in your house...............Hereare some tips by which you can stay cool in summer.
What to drink.:- DRINK WATER! DRINK WATER! DRINK WATER! That is my first advice. You know, you will be sweating always during summer and your body may feel tired. The skin will become dry and may precipitate skin diseases as eczema.. So you should drink atleast 15glasses of water. Dont wait untill you feel thirsty. Always stay hydrated. Apart from water, you can take non- alcoholic drinks like fruit juicesThe preparations of sugar, barely/green gram, sharbats, buttermilk with sugar candy are to be used daily to cool the body.The juices of dry grapes, cucumber, kharjura with Dalchini, Cardamom must be drunk along with pure cold water kept in a pot or a freezer. But friends, avoid drinks like Pepsi and Cola as these contain a lot of preservatives and chemicals.
Coffee and tea are not all good as they stimulate the central nervous system. Taking them on empty stomach is harmful as they mix with acid and circulated all over the body producing several diseases. And please avoid alcoholic drinks.....they are hot drinks. Dont use your oven, use toasters or microwaves.
What to eat:- Eat as much fruits as you can.One must not take foods of pungent, sour, dry and salty foods. Foods of rice with milk, sugar candy, butter milk, lassie are good for good health. Ghee can be used. And eat sugar and sweets if you like. They contain carbohydrates which can provide you energy. Please reduce the consumption of meat esp, beef.
What to wear:-Dress in light, loose, cotton clothing. Natural fabrics like cotton are much cooler than most synthetics (though there are new high-tech synthetics made specifically to keep you cool). Loose fitting clothes allow air to circulate, keeping you cooler. And try to wear white coloured clothes and avoid black ones. Remember, your feet may also sweat. If you wear socks, then make it sure that you wear socks not made of 100% cotto. Otherwise blisters may develope.
Keep cool with fans, air conditioning, and cool baths or showers. Make your own air conditioner by placing a bowl of ice in front of a fan and letting it blow on you. Window fans work best when blowing air out, so put your fan on the sunny side of the apartment and let it expel the hot air while pulling cool air from open windows on the shady side. Keep shades or curtains pulled on the sunny side of the house.
Please dont exercise vigorously... You may sweat a lot and lose water and salts. If you are taking medicines containing aspirin , ask your doctor for remedies. Moreover relax yourself...Find time to eat out. Put a drop of rosewater in the water before bathing. Smile always and avoid stress.But friends, if you are sweating more than usual, then please seek the help of a doctor.
And, bath thrice if you can..... that may help you a lot.
So have a smile on yor face and deal with summer heat.
