In the mean time I will try to delete the previous review.

Heat in Delhi is day by day increasing and is expected to keep on increasing in coming months also. It wasn’t enough that there is also problem of Loo over here. This loo is not the loo of English which means toilet but hindi loo. People of northern India know very well about it. Loo are the very hot winds blowing during summer in many parts of north India with sand particles. They are too hot and exposure to them can give you a nasty heat stroke. So following are my few do’s and don’t do’s for summer season which I have learned in my maiden stay in northern Indian(Delhi to be specific). These are basically for the people who don’t stay majority of time in AC offices and travel in public transport, sweating profusely, to go their work place. So here I start:

1)Drink lots of water: Obviously the basic cure which everyone knows. Drink at least 12 to 14 glass of water daily at intervals, irrespective of whether you are thirsty or not. During summer you need to keep your body cool. By sweating your body keeps yourself cool. Therefore you need plenty of water to keep your body cool. It is said that by the time you are thirsty you have already been dehydrated. Also I came to know from a pretty good forward message from my friend that when u are dehydrated for a long time thirst mechanism in body fails and you don’t feel thirsty after sometime. So drink ample quantity of water time to time.  You don’t feel thirsty doesn’t means you are not. This is especially for the people who are traveling in heat.

2)Keep yourself cool as much as possible. When ever I am out I keep drinking sugarcane and other kind of juices which you get on street. They are not very hygienic but even then they are good. In Mumbai you have something very good. On each and every local railway station you find that small outlet selling Nimbu-paani, rose water, Kokam sherbet etc etc. So go on sipping it whenever you get opportunity. Its sad that there’s no such thing in Delhi. Kokam sherbet is very helpful in summer.I have wasted lots of time searching for it in my place but did not find it. People in Delhi don’t even know what Kokam is. But be careful. See to it that you don’t drink and kind of Juice, cold drinks or whatever too cold. It is obvious that after coming from scorching heat people want to drink very cold water…but try to prevent it. Drink water or juices which are moderately cool. I had habit of drinking sugarcane juice or cold drinks almost chilled and in two days I got a nice sore throat.

3)This is something which mother told me to eat to prevent heat stroke and its very effective(like all other my mothers suggestion). Eat good quantity of onions and you will be safe from problems. Obviously no one likes to eat onions in morning and have stinking mouth whole days….guys having girl friends cant even think of this. So do as I say. Early mornings eat onions with your breakfast and then clean your mouth with Listerine and the entire stink will be gone. I really feel very relaxed the day when I eat onion in morning. Same way lemon juice is also very effective in summer season.

4)Take bath whenever you get opportunity. Especially people living in areas of high humidity like Mumbai where you have rives Nile and tigris flowing through your body once you get out of home. People tend to use lots of deodorants and perfumes during this time, specially the ones with beautiful companions. I would suggest that you try to use deos and perfumes in limited manner. These fluids have chemicals in them which sometimes close the pores of body and try to prevent sweating which can lead to pimples or sore skin. Use talcum powders instead. Their particles are too big to close the pores and are also effective. Denim is fav for this. Its smell is awesome.

5)I read this in first aid palmphlet.its pretty useful.Below is first aid description for Heat Stroke.

The only solution for heat stroke is to cool the person down. You can:

a)Try to get the person to drink water if the person is conscious.

b)Soak the person’s entire body in cool water.

c)Sponge cool water onto the person’s body.

d)Apply ice packs to the head, neck, armpits and groin.

6)As much as possible have natural foods and avoid synthetic drinks like Rasna, tang, soft drinks etc.Roohafza is best bet.Read review of smisbahudin on Roohafza and you get to know various ways to relish it.As I have mentioned earlier Sugarcane juice is good.Try this take Sugarcane juice, put lemon juice in it with grounded pudina and enjoy the cool refreshing drink.

If you have any more suggestions, you are welcome to share it with me and others.

Enjoy summer, Stay cool.
