If you’ve tried to go to a website hosted by geocities lately you probably got some kind of error telling you the server could not be reached. Apparently geocities is dead and I’m glad.
When geocities first started I signed up with them and got a website hosted for free. That was about seven years ago and the service seemed good to me at the time. Their service was pretty decent back then, but it slowly went downhill. More people started to join and geocities couldn’t keep up. Their service just kept getting slower and slower. Then they started adding more advertisements to the member websites. It got to where I would purposely avoid going to a website hosted by Geocities just because all the pop-up windows and banners were just too annoying.
Needless to say, I no longer have an account with them and I never will again.
If their service ever starts working again I would encourage everyone to stay away because it’s slow and they’ll put more content on your webpage than you will
