If you feel stifled by the lack of night life in Chennai dont despair... there is this place which offers respite Geoffrys at Park Inn 100ft road Arambakkam is a gr8 place to hang out on weekends or any other time you want to go. The place has a great ambience in the style of English pubs, a pool table (should have been Snooker or Billiards but what the heck), lots of maritime memorabilia and gyan on ships has been put up on the walls. The only thing that doesn’t fit is the lighting, which is more like a family restaurant than an English pub. Some more booze gyan comes your way when the waiter places coasters on your table prior to serving the drinks. The tempo usually picks up after 9:00 PM and the fun goes on till late in the night which by Chennai standards is around 11:30 or thereabouts (the time when crowd begins to disappear) The bar serves some really great cocktails and beer.
The prices are a slight sting on your pocket but then in Chennai it’s well worth it. For those who have the guts for having dinner after all the booze… the dinner menu has some delights at reasonably good prices. I would recommend the continental fare. All in all you leave the place with the satisfaction of an evening well spent. But the problem starts once you step out of this haven and back into Chennai… a city notorious for its autos… and its past 11 in the night... This is the down side : Call taxi takes minimum 25 minutes to reach the place and you have to choose between auto and waiting unless you have your own conveyance.
