I think one any every one required the passport.
Let come and take my example to discuss.
I have applied for passport two months before. The process followed; 1. fill the complete form and submit with required documents and photos. As required they will say our passport will be available within 45 days. 2. passport officers will take 3 to 4 days to send the verification documents to police station, here they wont send the application directly to the police station, instead they send it to the SP office under which the nearest police station of the candidates will come.
To sp office it will go through the post. from SP office to the verification police station will be brought through a person, this person is not a post man he will be one of the police department employee. After reaching to the police station, the applicant will be verified after a week or 10 days. After the application will go to the SP office (under which the police station will come) through the channel. this channel will take around 1 months to complete, its because no application sent by mail or courier.
All applications will be sent to next office through a department person. Their is no mailing or courier facility given to the police writers to send the applications. Any way it will reach to the SP office one month after. From SP office to regional office the application again sent through a person from department, in SP office the applications will collectively (50 to 100 applications) move to the passport regional office. At the passport regional office the passport will be printed and delivered to the candidate. This process will take 2 weeks.
So. overall 3 to 4 months required to get a new passport. Only other way is to get it through the tatkal by paying extra money at passport regional office. The tatkal passport also will take 11/2 months to 2 months.
