Expectations soars sky high, whenever its a Aamir khan movie..I was not let down but I thrived for more..I have not seen the Tamil version or Memento which is supposed to be the film it is loosely inspired from..but as action & Revenge movies has lost its fan following after the 90s & has gradually decreased in numbers..it was a refreshing change...& tha portrayal also was with lots of vigour & valor.
Aamir khan as Sanjay singhania has given a powerpacked performance..especially the emotional sequences...Asin as kalpana gave a really promising debue..& scores much higher than her counterparts who have debued this year.
Pradeep Rawat (first seen on tele serial-Mahabharat-as dronacharyas son-Aswathdhama..then did some films as side actor..one of them was Baaghi with Salman Khan..shot to fame as the bad guy in numerous telugu flicks) was a let down as Ghajini the bad man of the film.
Jiah khan as sunitha didnt have much to do except to look awestruck. She really looked gorgeous in the Lattoo song. it was unfair on Aamir khans behalf not to let her complete even one song.
The first half was a loosely interwoven comedy of errors but the romance between aamir & asin was picturized in a very natural way & of course the song sequences too were brilliant. The Second half was a much beautiful cinematic experience..as we see the pain of a man who is suffering from Amnesia(short term memory loss)...who has lost his only love...& who is on a killing trail to avenge the murder of his lover.
There were quite a few moments in the film worth clapping. The way Aamir tries to remember everything by writing on photographs was really a class act. The climax scene when aamir cries on the hospital bed is quite heart wrenching. The bloodbath on his killing trail. The action sequences..the murder of asin by ghajini was a cut above the rest..Quite spine chilling.
Overall not a bad ploy. Just avoid watching with kids.
