When it comes to the Ghajini it is exactly in that order!
First things first... As sajid in his review has already mentioned.. if you looking for a memento, pls look elsewhere!
Let me start of my review by saying Kudos to Amir for making Ghajini the movie event of the year! I don;t know how many of us remember the fact that its Christmas, instead we are all flocking to the theatres (including me) to see this one.The anticipation, the buzz, everything!
Now you have everyone glued to the seats, The hall darkens, and it starts! the director doesnt waste time and zips past the intial introduction of character, amirs intro, the police investigation, jiahs first meeting with amir... slowly the pace starts getting picked up.. Just then, the director decided its time for the backstory to come in.. The 3 reel flashback about the rich guy, poor girl with golden heart lovestory is cute... but clearly could have being a different film, as it come across as a forced inclusion by the writer in an attempt to Indianize the story of Memento, also to bring in songs, comedy and emotion, which could otherwise have being an high intense psychological thriller!
Having said that the songs are nice to hear, the peppy bekha is well shot and so is guzarish! but the best song is the romantic "Kaise Mujhe" I was looking forward to Latoo by Jiah Khan, but turned out to be a damn squib!! anway, back to the plot!
The movie picks up pace again when it returns from flashback, Jiah a very curious but police-ki-janjat-pe-na-padnewali girl who firstly helps the villan find amir, then eventually gets hold of amirs dairy runs through the remaing part of flashback story, how convinient! where you see Asins character getting killed because she busts a big human trading scandal! strangely asin doesn;t have police protection.. anyway.. suddenly after reading the dairy jiah decides to do a 180 degree turn and help amir find the villan!!
The movie is filled with such illogical, unconvicing, downright unexplainable instances. Looks like the doctor prescribed heavy doses of the golden drug for writers/directors called Cinematic liberty
*Asin is charming. Jiah is hot inthe Latto song, the villan (pradeep) looks jaded but does a decent job scaring people!!
but the Biggest reason to watch ghajini is AMIR KHAN... although Amir looks very very old in the flashback scenes,
its as this "Bulked up, Bone crushing, 15 min memory guy" that Amir comes to his own! he shows his full range of emotions, and you can clearly see that he is loved playing this character. Check him out in the scene just before the climax, when he has floored 30 guys in a fit of rage, then wondering why did he hit them!! this the one that he has changed from the original!
Watch Ghajini only for Amir khan!
