Ace is Back !!

Two weeks ago it was King and now it’s Ace. Involvement of both these names is enough to ensure a blockbuster opening. As I am writing this review I just read that first week of Ghajini is expected to end around 30-35 crores, full credits to Aamir and his team for creating such a hype surrounding the release. And y not after all we do not get to see the Ace Khan as often as his other contemporaries. But lets come to the fact... it will be just the opening coz the film does not really has any merits to go on strong farther. For most of us though.. it’s just a film we had to watch.. forgettable too!!

The plot inspired by "Memento (2000)" could have been more tightly wowen around this story. At first when the romantic angle started I thought. Man y do bollywood always have to bring in this to spoil a good thriller. But at the end it was just this thing. The scenes involving the two and chemisty between Asin and Aamir which can be termed the high points in this 3+ hours long movie. Unlike Memento this movie focuses very little on the investigation part, and the story unfolds without any major suspense and turns like in other edge of the seat thrillers. To sum up Ghajini is just a normal "maar-dhaad revenge masala" bollywood film and that too with a touch of Tollywood:) and ufcourse Aamir.

As far as starcast goes.. only Aamir could have pulled this off and with such a conviction.. The protagonist does not have many dialogues but his eyes express a lot. A special mention about the scene in hospital when Jiah Khan comes to meet him is awesum. Asin is very natural and bubbly. She is thoroughly enjoyable. Jiah Khan was intense and first rate in Nishabd but here she is just okay and lives the character.Pradeep Rawat is okay but not a villain to remember, especially in a movie which is named after it’s villain. Cinematography is good and Rehman’s score is as always first rate and songs do not necessarily halt the movie’s proceedings at any point of time. Best one being Behka and Kaise Mujhe. Background score helps here, perticularly in the action scenes.

Well not actually copying Memento has helped make viewers easily understand the story perticularly when you have made it into a romatic story too (I myself got a bit confused at times while watching Memento). So go and watch out Ghajini for Ace Khan and for Asin too.
